Recap from Hilleberg the Tentmaker
More than 50 members and guests of SACC-Seattle and SWEA attended our jointly sponsored January 12 meeting at Hilleberg the Tentmaker’s Redmond headquarters.
Petra Hilleberg, CEO of The Hilleberg Group, told the story of how the company was founded in 1975, and has since grown to become the global leader in very high-end backpacking tents. She discussed the main points of differentiation that have made Hilleberg a sought-after brand: unique… fabrics, innovation, and a focus on quality.
Petra also recounted how, at age 12, she informed her father, the founder of the company, that she was going to establish Hilleberg’s U.S. presence. She followed through and opened the company’s U.S. office within weeks of graduating from Seattle University. The U.S. is now Hilleberg the Tentmaker’s largest market.
