Seminar IT Security: Exposing Cyber Attacks, February 22 2013

On February 22, 2013 SACC-Seattle invites you to a seminar at Swedish Cultural Center with the renowned IT Specialist Marcus Murray and Hasain Alshakarti.

We will start at 10.45am-12.00 noon and Swedish chef Ann Margret will provide lunch after the seminar at 12 noon, as she does every Friday.

We hear about hackers making serious intrusions on major enterprises networks or how government websites are being subjected to cyber attacks by groups like “anonymous”.

This is only the tip of the iceberg which is visible to the public. In fact most nations are preparing for, what in general terms is called “cyber warfare”, where malicious code is used to infect and knock out vital organizations, enterprises and even nuclear power plants. The buzz word is APT “Advanced Persistent Threat”. Most famous to date is the Stuxnet case that put the world on edge this last spring.

Marcus Murray and Hasain Alshakarti from the Swedish IT security consulting firm TrueSec, will explain further how this happened and how this can be prevented by using the Stuxnet case and other known intrusions as example. What can we expect for the future and what is the world doing to prepare itself to counter these attacks?  Marcus Murray and Hasain Alshakarti will start on a global level all the way down to our personal computer and cell phone’s security in order to better equip us to counter these problems on a corporate and individual level.
